“Men hide your wallets, ladies calm down- they’ll be time for you to shop later”.
Apart from the many times our bus tour guide said this phrase (i.e. every time we passed a shopping outlet) Berlin is not a city of gender roles or ageism!
24hours before embarking on the informative but kind of unfunny tour we had spent mid-morning in a techno club dancing to ‘Born Slippy’ with a couple of 55.
We also managed to defy the ‘ladies like to shop’ persona by only spending 70euros over 6 days! In-between 24hour parties and tours we also slipped into the best market ever, which after it’s mile of little stalls culminated in an amphitheatre dedicated to karaoke.
The German rendition of ‘My Way’ which was performed by a bearded legend (who had to be an ex-opera singer) was received with a full standing ovation.
Despite the FREEZING weather (honestly, 100% freezing!) and many adventures and excursions we also managed to gather in our arms interviews and content for the next XOX- a double bag of Christmas and New Year goodness so keep your eyes peeled for the next issue out mid-December! xox
