You might know Donatella from certain TV shows about young rich kids, she may be that, but money doesn’t come into this. She’s built up a fan base from presenting and her new venture with Grime Daily is definetely and interesting one. I caught up with her for a quick one…No not of that kind, dirty minds ; )
SUPERSUPER: Hi Donatella! Can you explain to the SUPERSUPER peepz who you are?
DONATELLA: [Laughs] Yes, well I’m Donatella and at present I primarily present for http://www.grimedaily.com/ and I’m loving it…
SUPERSUPER: When did you realise that you wanted to be in front of the camera?
DT: Well, probably the first time someone put a camera on me. I think it was something that I discovered early on.
SUPERSUPER: Why did you decide to become a ‘grime’ presenter and how did you hook up with Grime Daily?
DT: It wasn’t entirely a conscious decision, but I always had a huge passion for music, including grime. Skepta was an artist I really liked and I interviewed him for a project that I was working on previously and I had sent it to Grime Daily with a cheeky email saying, “If you ever need a presenter let me know!” and they really liked the interview, so we did some test interviews and the rest is history…
SUPERSUPER: Do you think you will always be working with grime folk? Or do you see yourself becoming a Loose Women on ITV1 anytime in the near future?
DT: [Laughs] I have actually worked on Loose Women, I did a week with them years ago and it was really fun. I will always want to work with Grime Daily and within the scene, despite what other projects arise.
SUPERSUPER: What are your thoughts on other females that work/worked in grime? Chantelle Fiddy, Hyperfrank, Sian Anderson et al?
DT: I think it’s fantastic that there are females within such a male dominated industry that are making their mark. I respect any woman within the scene doing their thing.
SUPERSUPER: You were once on a TV programme about rich kids some years back. Please explain?
DT: Yes, I was. I was 16 at the time and the programme sort of happened by chance, my details were passed on to Granada by the social editor of OK! Magazine and they asked me if I fancied taking part in a “fly on the wall” entitled Young People In London, I agreed and signed on the dotted line. The release form used the abbreviation “Y P L”, which I assumed stood for the aforementioned title. After 6 months of filming to see it on ITV1 with the title Young, Posh and Loaded, I was mortified…
SUPERSUPER: So are you one of those spoilt rich kids who live off daddy’s bank balance? Be real now, we won’t mind…
DT: I appreciate your bluntness Mr Patterson. I have been completely self sufficient since I was 16. Making a series of documentaries about being a “rich kid’ actually managed to set me up, I bought my own place when I was 21. Of course I get amazing presents at birthdays and Christmas, but asides from that everything I have, I’ve bought. I am one of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet. Having a successful father has motivated me to make my own fortune.
SUPERSUPER: Anyways, what plans do you have for the future as a presenter?
DT: Well, I’ve been presenting for a while now and I guess I’m just kind of new on the whole urban music scene. I would love to continue on working with the team I’m working with at present and for us to reach new levels of success collectively. This is the happiest I have been in a long while. BIG UP GRIME DAILY!
