Album Review – Kensaye: Introspective

Kensaye is a hip-hop/soul producer based in the UK. He is currently working with 2 groups 9dots and K.I. project. He has also worked with artists such as: Artcha, Mensa and Mercury award winner Speech Debelle.

Kensaye has just released his very first beats album consisting of 25 tracks and trust me when I say there is something for everyone. It’s very evident that Kensaye’s main influence is hip hop but after listening to his beats you can tell that he has a large pallet for many genres because his versatility is obvious.

My personal favourite tracks on the album are ‘Bling and I want to say’, they’re both very different but will definitely get your head nodding. It’s very easy to pigeon hole music and especially producers but with Kensaye and his production it is very hard to put in a box.

One criticism of this album if a criticism at all is the voice over that you get throughout some tracks. It sounds a lot like Jigsaw from saw and after a while it gets a little grating. But, just remember it’s all about the music and introspective offers plenty. It is a very good listen and worthy of a place on any iPod.
