Sex & The City 2…in a nutshell.

I’m not usually one to embrace cliches (except the ones about how I eat humous everyday and how Zeus is my dad), but certain cliches are… well… true. I don’t know any girls who wouldn’t be perfectly happy with the job of their dreams, an amazing partner with an amazing bank balance, a love life to leave others green with envy, the best clothes, shoes and  bags money can buy, and a group of friends to enjoy these pleasures of life with, and all of this fuelled by sexy cocktails.

Yes. Sex & The City. I recently spoke about it on my blog and after finally watching the film, it has reconfirmed that programmes like these (which may I add, I flippin’ love) are  probably, definitely to blame for the many strange states of mind us women go through. Apologies to the men that have to put up with us but yeh…

As far as the film goes, Sex & The City 2 is just like Avatar. Amazing to look at, wonderful to witness, full of breath-taking visions of beauty to leave you in awe and constantly has you wishing you could jump into the cinema screen and disappear into that world, instead of this one. But again, also like Avatar – the script, plot and storyline is…ABSOLUTE CRAP. Just like everyone told us :(

Despite this however, a true fan has to watch it.  So I did. And to cut a long story short, the film is about…um…nothing. In fact it was so lacking in ideas and action that it put a dampener on its predecessor (which was equally disappointing in comparison to its predecessor, that being of course, the pure genius of the TV series). It is completely pointless in it’s entirety. It is a completely self-indulgent, sell-out of a film, where the four friends, dressed from head to toe in the most beautiful clothes, take a free holiday to paradise and basically manifest their complete ingratitude  for their pretty perfect lives by moaning about the most trivial things. You leave the cinema feeling cheated. And on a very cynical note, it feels like it could be a mockery of all women who don’t live that lifestyle  - after all if the women like the ones portrayed in this film are not happy with their lives, which quite frankly most of us would kill to have, then what are the rest of us supposed to say?

I guess that’s the one lesson I re-learned from this, the second, and I pray FINAL, Sex & The City film; Money and material things do not, can not and will not ever guarantee you happiness. And if you think they ever can, you’re never going to be satisfied with your life. You can have everything in the world but objects cannot replace the things that make your heart feel so full, nothing can bring you down.

This is another one of those cliches I’m willing to embrace….. :)
