Avant-garde fashion label Cassette Playa has always showed a lot of love to the UK underground music scene, be it grime or drone, the Queen of Cartoon Couture (AKA Carri Mundane) knows her stuff. With a new found love for bassline, Cassette Playa has teamed up with underground mu…sic journalist Joseph ‘JP’ Patterson to find someone to create an exclusive bassline mix and he found that person in the form of DJ Q. The BBC 1Xtra DJ has been an ambassador of bassline music for many years, well since its start in the North of England nearly 10 years ago.
“When I heard Cassette Playa was looking for a bassline mix, I jumped at the chance. It’s a wicked way to showcase the music to a new audience and I just hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed mixing it. More and more people seem to be showing an interest again. When bassline failed to chart, a lot of people from down South came up with the conclusion that bassline had died, but up North the scene was and still is going strong and we’re working hard to maintain that. Slowly more people are realising that bassline isn’t actually dead.
