Boxfresh and M+P models launch nationwide male model search

front (1)
Boxfresh join forces with M + P models to find the face of Boxfresh for Spring Summer 2012. Boxfresh are the original British streetwear originators, spanning over two decades of youth culture. The new SS12 clothing and footwear collection is one of the strongest yet; having explored their own archives of utility, workwear and streetwear styling a newly inspired range of perfect workwear aesthetic has been created.

M&P Model Agency was created as a boutique agencywith an unique approach. Their relationship with major clients and international agencies along with their good eye for models creates an ideal environment for creating stars. M&P’s vision, belief and passion have allowed them to build a foundation for M&P that works to the best advantage to any model represented. M+P has worked closley with Boxfresh for a number of years and have developed a close relationship with the brand.

The M&P scouting team will be out in force in 3 major UK shopping destinations searching for a fresh face to feature in Boxfresh’s SS12 look book and a chance to win a contract with M&P. Potential contenders will be invited by M&P to have their photograph taken to be in with the chance of winning this nationwide competition.

The destinations are:

Manchester – Exchange Square Saturday 3rd September (from 12PM – 4PM)
Bristol – Cabot Square Saturday 10th September
London – Carnaby Street Saturday 17th September

“We are looking for great new guys between the ages of 16 – 24 years old. Heights requirements should be minimum of 6′0 (1.83) and 6′3 (1.92)”

The contestants will be judged by a panel of judges including representatives from M&P Models and Boxfresh as well as other industry experts at an exclusive catwalk event to be held on the 27th September.

Sarah Young + Red Bull = ‘Music Class of 2010′

On August 20, 24 and 25, Sarah Young and Red Bull UK will be teaming up with a string of innovative artists from the music industry to help launch the Music Class of 2010 project.

Music Class of 2010 is a multi-media editorial concept, which includes those musicians and producers who don’t simply top the charts, but create music with artistic integrity.

Twenty-one year old DJ and Stylist Sarah Young and internationally renowned photographer Satoshi Minakawa are the creative team behind the project, the cast list of which is scheduled to include the following: -

Mistajam (BBC Radio One DJ)
Roses Gabor (Artist)
Toddla T (UK producer)
Redlight (UK producer)
Swindle (UK producer)
Jammer (MC)
J2k (MC)
Donaeo (Artist)
Mz Bratt (Female MC)

The editorial will be launched at the Red Bull HQ in London, where in November the artists involved will create an exclusive track in just two hours within the VIP music studios adjacent to the event, which will be streamed live online and into the media event next door via TV screens.

Creative director of the project Sarah Young explains her vision: “As a DJ and Fashion stylist, I deal with music and fashion on a daily basis. The two are inextricably linked – right now the UK music scene is the best it’s ever been and receiving international recognition.

“These artists, dj’s and producers are the people at the forefront of street trends, they are the people who wear what they want, when they want and others follow. As a stylist I am going to take each artists style and multiply that by 10, whilst giving each look a high fashion edge.

“Music is a form of expression, and so is fashion and this project signifies the cultural importance of this fusion.”

Sarah is going to be working with a selection of labels including D&G, Lavin, Vivienne Westwood Man, Armani, Balenciaga, Burberry, Margiela, Marc Jacobs, Matthew Williamson, Nike, and Harrods, as well a selection of ‘New Gen’ designers.

SARAH YOUNG’S TOP 3 FASHION| MUSIC | ART

Welcome to my top 3 Fashion, Music Art countdown, there is no excuse to be out of the loop, If you don’t know, now you know! Simples!

FASHION

Daddy / Son Duo Charlie and Joe Casely- Hayford are ripping up the fashion industry as we speak! Taking it back to the bygone era of tailored suits, tweeds, double breast jackets and blindingly shiny shoes their fashion house is nothing but classic old skool glamour with a touch of the London Streetwear aesthetic. Check them out here

MUSIC

Mr Party Hard aka Donaeo has wowed me with this brand new summer banger ‘I’m Fly’, i challenge you NOT to bop when you hear this in the club. Listen to my thoughts and the track on Audio Boo.

Listen!

ART

Laura Keeble is my kinda artist. She makes clever visual metaphors and uses popular iconography and gives them a totally new, different meaning ( Andy Warhol anyone?)

She once said the graveyard installation below was to do with religion, but i read much more meaning into it than just simply that. In my view through placing the Chanel and Mcdonalds logo directly on top of the gravestone ( a recognisable symbol of death) Keeble is commenting on the worth and perhaps the effect of capitalism. Big brands have no individual face or life behind them, so if you buy into them part of your individuality dies, if you buy into a faceless brand, you loose face.

Whatever the meaning, this is pretty sick right?

SARAH YOUNG | FASHION FILM | STYLING FOR THE MOVING IMAGE

As a stylist i prefer styling for the moving image, i feel it shows the garments off in much more realistic , more beautiful way.

I have never been the type of stylist to dress the models or artists at videos or shoots and then sit down and chill. I think any good stylist should be well versed in art direction and not only know their fashion but elements such as videography, photography, direction and ALL that techno ish! If you go on set knowing your stuff you command much more authority anyway.

So after seeing enough very talented male directors do their thing, and never being one to give into gender stereotypes, i thought i would switch up the roles and give being behind the camera a go.

Releasing my frustrated inner geek and learning how to use my extreme bossiness / anal-ness to my advantage, I directed and styled my first ever fashion film for a fashion week project.

A film concentrating on the idea of interracial relationships and combating societies prejudices and racisms.

Difference is beautiful. Enjoy!

Boxfresh ‘wallpaper’ to decorate our NYE party house!

boxfreshnyeposterupdated

Our NYE party is shaping up to be the party we always thought it was going to be. Forget the disapointment which took place at the turn of the millenium, the first pulsating minutes of 2010 are going to be the best ever.

Not only will it sound surr-weet (Kleptones, The Whip, Russell autoKrtaz and ourselves to name just a few of the DJs) but our house-inside-a-club is likely to be the most stylish house you’ve ever partied at. Our mate Jessica designed this wall paper which will be adorning the boys’ bedroom wall.

boxfresh space invader

No way is that a Boxfresh SPACE INVADER poster, you ask. Yes it is, and we think it’s gonna look pretty cool alongside all the other junk which you’d expect in a teens’ room.

Here’s all the information you need to know about our House Party: http://www.myboxfresh.com/?p=4533&preview=true

We also have this to cure your (likely) hangover…

Okay, so you’ve managed to make it through New Year’s eve, but along the way you’ve misplaced a few friends and a few braincells (part for the course, really…). Well, here’s a chance for you to recover both friends and braincells while either working off those last few joules of energy, or simply kicking back in a beanbag with a cocktail…

Yup, following on from “The best House Party you’ve ever been to” at the Ruby Lounge on New Year’s Eve, THE KLEPTONES will be taking up residence in the lounge at Hatter’s Hostel on the following afternoon to celebrate the flipside of their new double album “Uptime / Downtime”, which will be released at Midnight on 01/01/10.

There’ll be brunch and bloody marys to help revive you, and special guests, including our friends from MURKAGE CARTEL (fresh from their own NYE insanity at Sankeys), will be joining Eric Kleptone to provide the perfect soundtrack to ease you into 2010.

That makes for a perfect end to the night for you dirty stop outs, and fine restarter session for those of you who have managed to get some kip and are back out for another hard day’s night.

Space will be limited, but entrance is free, so RSVP names to nyd10@kleptones.com by 12 noon on New Year’s Eve to ensure yourselves a beanbag!
