SARAH YOUNG | FASHION FILM | STYLING FOR THE MOVING IMAGE

As a stylist i prefer styling for the moving image, i feel it shows the garments off in much more realistic , more beautiful way.

I have never been the type of stylist to dress the models or artists at videos or shoots and then sit down and chill. I think any good stylist should be well versed in art direction and not only know their fashion but elements such as videography, photography, direction and ALL that techno ish! If you go on set knowing your stuff you command much more authority anyway.

So after seeing enough very talented male directors do their thing, and never being one to give into gender stereotypes, i thought i would switch up the roles and give being behind the camera a go.

Releasing my frustrated inner geek and learning how to use my extreme bossiness / anal-ness to my advantage, I directed and styled my first ever fashion film for a fashion week project.

A film concentrating on the idea of interracial relationships and combating societies prejudices and racisms.

Difference is beautiful. Enjoy!

Loving the A64’s over on SBTV, especially this one by Emile Sande – epic voice!!

Gonna leave you with a video I was sent via the Flush UK Media lot from Birmingham. Listened to it when I was with my bredrin (who is also from Birmingham) and as soon as we pressed play it got a straight jackum, I’m not even exaggerating. The video is next level. For an underground music video, the quality is bloody A-M-A-Z-E, no? And we haven’t even started on the track yet. Bomma B comes in with the aggresive flow, which I think everyone is appreciating at the moment, because grime is lacking the angry type flows right now. Trilla, Trilla, Trilla, why did you have to go and duppy the tune like this? The D Double E bar >>>>>>>>>>>>>. The other MCs on the track are good, I’m not aware of their work too tuff, nevertheless, a great piece of work. In some places in the world people would call this a work of art!

ELLIS G speaks to Street Talk in NYC!

The latest installment of Street Talk!!!

Ellis Gallagher, also known as ELLIS G. , is a native New Yorker and visual artist. Ellis started his career with graffiti but his tagging days came to a halt, when a friend was killed in front of him by a train while they were in the tunnels tagging. Ellis’s career path has since taken his graffiti background through different forms with mediums like chalk and fire. His work has been profiled by several New York media outlets and was the subject of a Emmy Award winning documentary, detailing his trials as a street artist.

ELLIS G. is noted for bringing Shadow Art to the forefront of street art. He outlines various iconic objects of New York’s identity with chalk via the shadows they cast . Ellis sites shadow art as an alternative but equally engaging form of graffiti that is less intrusive and more of a pleasant surprise. Ellis is part of what makes New York City a living canvas that inspires and in turn becomes a work of art.
